VIDEO: Construction Career Day gets local news coverage

In collaboration with the AGC of Washington, the Foundation welcomed more than 500 students to the seventh-annual King County Construction Career Day at Magnuson Park on October 6, 2016. Seventeen high schools across King County participated in the hands-on event designed to inspire students toward construction careers. The successful day concluded with news coverage from KING 5, which highlighted the need for more young people to join Seattle’s busy industry. Click here to watch the full story.

The day’s attractions included outdoor heavy equipment; indoor hands-on construction activities; and a tour of the UW Construction Management and PACE (Pre-Apprenticeship Construction Education) facility, which hosts the Virtual Construction Lab and Methods Materials Lab. Students experienced each exhibit with the help of construction-industry ambassadors—AGC’s Future Leadership Forum (FLF) members who volunteered to lead tours of the exhibits and to talk about their various pathways into the industry.
